Professor Dr. Jasser Auda

Professor Dr. Jasser Auda

Professor Fellow, International Islamic University Malaysia

An internationally renowned scholar in Maqasid al-Shariah, bridging traditional Islamic scholarship with modern systems analysis.

Professor Dr. Jasser Auda is an internationally renowned scholar in the field of Maqasid al-Shariah (the Higher Objectives of Islamic Law) and one of the leading contemporary thinkers in Islamic studies. With an interdisciplinary academic background that bridges traditional Islamic scholarship and modern systems analysis, he has made significant contributions to the development of maqasid-based approaches to Qur’anic studies, Islamic jurisprudence, ethics, and public policy.

He holds two doctoral degrees: a Ph.D. in the Philosophy of Islamic Law from the University of Wales, United Kingdom, and a Ph.D. in Systems Analysis from the University of Waterloo, Canada. He memorised the Holy Qur’an at an early age and pursued traditional studies in Qur’an, Hadith, Fiqh, and Usul al-Fiqh under scholars at Al-Azhar Mosque in Cairo.

He has served as a professor, researcher, and visiting scholar across Canada, the United Kingdom, Qatar, the UAE, Brunei, South Africa, Egypt, and Malaysia, including IIUM, and is President of Maqasid Institute Global. He has authored more than twenty-five books, including Maqasid al-Shariah as Philosophy of Islamic Law: A Systems Approach and Maqasid al-Shariah: A Beginner’s Guide.

Professor, Kulliyyah of Education, International Islamic University Malaysia

An accomplished academic specialising in Islamic education, curriculum development, and educational leadership.

Professor Dr. Dawood Abdulmalek Yahya Al-Hidabi is a Professor at the Kulliyyah of Education, International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). He is an accomplished academic and researcher specialising in Islamic education, curriculum development, educational philosophy, and educational leadership.

He obtained both his Master of Education and Doctor of Philosophy in Education from the University of Stirling, United Kingdom, and has actively contributed to teaching, curriculum innovation, postgraduate supervision, and educational research at both national and international levels.

His scholarly interests include Islamic educational philosophy, curriculum development, teacher education, and educational reform. At IIUM, he continues to mentor postgraduate researchers and strengthen Islamic education through research, academic leadership, and community engagement.

Tan Sri Abdul Rashid bin Hussain serves as President of the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), guiding the university’s mission to integrate Islamic values with contemporary academic excellence.

Under his leadership, IIUM continues to champion holistic education that nurtures students in knowledge, character, and Rabbani leadership — preparing graduates to serve the Ummah with sincerity and competence.

Open to committed undergraduate Huffaz ready to give their full presence across the four days.

Eligibility Criteria

Open to undergraduate (degree) students.
Memorised 10 juz of the Al-Qur’an.
Active in leadership, student organisations, or volunteer work.
Able to communicate in English and Malay.
Good academic standing.
Able to commit throughout the full 4-day programme.
