Summary of the programme:
The Huffaz Leadership Program Awaken The Soul: Remembering Death, Renewing Faith was successfully held on 14 December 2025 with 38 participants in attendance. The programme aimed to provide a reflective environment for participants to contemplate the reality of life and death, renew their faith, and cultivate a sense of communal responsibility through spiritual reflection and service-based activities.
The programme provided participants with the opportunity to engage in tazakkur (remembrance), collective du‘a, quiet self-reflection, and a meaningful gotong-royong cemetery clean-up, fostering both spiritual awareness and teamwork among HLP members.
A key highlight of the programme was the collective journey and spiritual engagement at Tanah Perkuburan Islam Jalan Sungai Pusu. The programme began with a gathering and briefing session at Wadi Budi, where participants were briefed on the objectives, programme flow, and the importance of observing proper adab when visiting the cemetery. The participants then walked together to the cemetery, a simple yet meaningful journey that fostered unity and a shared sense of purpose among them.
Upon arrival, the programme continued with a du‘a and Qur’anic reflection session, during which participants collectively recited supplications and reflected on Qur’anic reminders concerning life, death, accountability, and the Hereafter. This was followed by a guided tazakkur session that encouraged deep personal reflection, inviting participants to internalise the reality of death, evaluate their spiritual growth, and renew their intentions towards Allah. The atmosphere of solemnity and contemplation allowed participants to reconnect spiritually and gain renewed clarity in their faith journey.
Another significant component of the programme was the communal gotong-royong activity, where participants were divided into groups to clean and maintain the cemetery area. This activity instilled values of responsibility, ihsan, cooperation, and respect for sacred spaces, translating spiritual reflection into meaningful action. The programme concluded with a brief closing reflection, followed by simple refreshments, providing an opportunity to strengthen ukhuwah and end the programme on a warm and reflective note.
Overall, the programme successfully achieved its objectives and received encouraging responses from the participants. It effectively fostered spiritual reflection, strengthened unity, and cultivated a sense of communal responsibility among HLP members.
Jazakumullahu kheyr to everyone involved in making this programme a success.
