A step forward in bringing Maqasid al-Qur’an into the university’s weekly rhythm
On 20 July 2026 (Monday), the Huffaz Leadership Programme (HLP), International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), conducted a courtesy visit to Professor Dr. Jasser Auda at his office in the International Institute of Islamic Thought and Civilization (ISTAC), IIUM, Jalan Duta. The visit aimed to present a proposed academic initiative and to seek his support and guidance for its implementation.
The session served as a valuable platform to introduce a proposed weekly programme set to commence from Semester 1, 2026/2027. The course will focus on Maqasid al-Qur’an, with the objective of cultivating a deeper understanding of the Qur’an among participants and encouraging its meaningful application in daily life. The programme is targeted at IIUM students and staff, and will also be open to external participants.
Key discussions included the development of a suitable timeline, schedule, and venue, as well as the content of the course and its proposed module structure. Emphasis was placed on ensuring that the programme is well-structured, engaging, and accessible for both students and working staff, while maintaining consistency throughout its weekly implementation.
The proposal has received prior approval from Professor Dr. Fauzan Noordin, Deputy Rector of IIUM (Student Development and Community Engagement), reflecting strong institutional support for the initiative. Professor Dr. Jasser Auda expressed his enthusiasm and encouragement towards the programme, highlighting the importance of nurturing individuals who are capable of bringing positive change to the world. He also conveyed his delight in being invited to serve as the speaker for the programme, given his deep expertise in the field.
