3.0 Summary of the programme
The program began with the arrival of guests and participants, followed by opening remarks and a soulful Quran recitation. A welcoming speech was delivered by the Ameer of HSLP, setting the tone for the main highlight of the event the Grand Talk forum. Moderated in an engaging and reflective manner, the forum featured two respected scholars, Dr. Yusuf Kara and Dr. Sayyed Mohamed Muhsin.
The discussion opened with the concept of “soul detox” from an Islamic perspective. Dr. Yusuf Kara emphasized the importance of purifying the heart through the Quran, especially in preparation for Ramadan, a month of mercy and self-renewal. Dr. Sayyed Muhsin expanded the conversation by identifying modern-day spiritual “toxins” such as heedlessness, materialism, and negative influences and offered practical advice on how to cleanse the heart during this sacred time.
The forum also addressed the influence of Western media and social platforms on Muslim youth. Dr. Sayyed Muhsin highlighted how movies, music, and digital trends subtly distort values, often normalizing un-Islamic lifestyles. In response, Dr. Yusuf Kara urged young Muslims to practice conscious consumption and reconnect with the Quran and authentic Islamic teachings. The speakers encouraged participants to approach Ramadan not merely as a ritual but as a transformative process that purifies the soul, strengthens discipline, and enhances self-awareness.
As the forum concluded, tokens of appreciation were presented, followed by a group photo. Participants then prepared for iftar, listening to the call to Maghrib before breaking their fast together. The evening ended with congregational Maghrib prayer, fostering a spirit of unity and gratitude.
Overall, the Grand Talk served as a powerful reminder of the deeper purpose of Ramadan and offered attendees valuable guidance on how to make the most of the blessed month. By addressing both spiritual and contemporary challenges, the event left a lasting impact on those who attended.
