Summary of the programme:
The Huffaz Leadership Programme (HLP) successfully organised a programme entitled
Maqasid al-Qur’an: Reviving Divine Purpose in Modern Life which was held on 20
December 2025 and attended by 130 participants. The programme aimed to enhance
comprehension of the Maqasid al-Qur’an by providing participants with a foundational
understanding of the Qur’an’s objectives and their role in shaping balanced individuals and
communities. Moreover, it highlighted how the Qur’anic objectives inform the concept of
prioritisation in both personal and public spheres, thereby connecting Maqasid al-Qur’an with
Fiqh al-Awlawiyyat in guiding Muslims to navigate contemporary societal and ethical
challenges.
With the attendance of more than 100 participants from IIUM, other institutions of higher
education, and the general public, the programme recorded a positive turnout. The interactive
question-and-answer session provided an opportunity for active engagement with the speaker,
reflecting participants’ enthusiasm and curiosity towards the subject matter.
In general, participants expressed positive feedback on the programme, highlighting its
informative and engaging nature as well as its relevance to contemporary and social
challenges. The speaker’s comprehensive and interesting delivery enhanced participants’
comprehension of reviving the Qur’anic vision by exploring how its objectives enable
humanity to manage the world with justice and compassion.
Overall, the programme successfully achieved its intended objectives and received an
encouraging response from participants. The dedication and teamwork of the organising
committee, speakers, and all individuals involved played an important role in ensuring the
