The “Event Essentials: Planning, Execution, and Success” workshop, held on December 27, 2024, at KOE, was led by Madam Shahrizad Sa-idul Haj, Director of the Office for Communication, Advocacy, and Promotion (OCAP). The workshop provided participants with a comprehensive understanding of the key elements required for organizing successful events. Madam Shahrizad began by stressing the importance of setting clear objectives for each event and differentiating events from routine programs. She emphasized the need for careful planning, including budgeting, venue booking, and creating contingency plans to manage unexpected issues. Participants learned how events offer opportunities for skill development, such as leadership, time management, communication, and problem-solving. The workshop also highlighted the practical benefits of event management, such as real-world application and networking opportunities. Madam Shahrizad covered the five main aspects of event planning—purpose, audience, budget, timeline, and teamwork—and stressed their importance in ensuring a successful event. During the planning phase, she advised starting early, at least a month before the event, and recommended building a comprehensive plan that includes a contingency budget. The execution phase focused on proper venue setup, marketing efforts, rehearsals, and communication. Finally, the post-event phase emphasized conducting a debrief session, sending thank-you notes, and preparing a financial report. Overall, the workshop provided participants with essential tools, knowledge, and strategies to effectively plan, execute, and evaluate impactful events.
