As part of the Huffaz Sejahtera Leadership Programme, participants were introduced to the art of public speaking in a workshop led by Dr. Mazlena. The session began with an engaging showcase of speech videos by international students delivering in Malay, allowing participants to observe and evaluate critical elements of effective delivery. Dr. Mazlena emphasized public speaking as a vital skill for leaders, outlining its objectives, which include informing, persuading, motivating, and entertaining. Key elements discussed included self-awareness as a speaker, crafting clear and impactful messages, understanding the audience, leveraging appropriate platforms, and anticipating varied outcomes. Practical techniques such as voice projection, body language, eye contact, and maintaining professionalism were highlighted. The workshop also featured an interactive session where participants applied their learning and engaged in a dynamic Q&A. This experience underscored the significance of public speaking in building confidence, enhancing communication, and fostering leadership with integrity—essential traits for inspiring and leading effectively.
